Obsessing with Fitbit

Obsessing with Fitbit

I am the proud owner of a Fitbit 1. I received it for Christmas and was hooked immediately. I am using it with the I Phone AP and the AP is totally accessible.
I am not sure if the installation is accessible because my husband did it so fast I did not get a chance to ask him to install it with Voice Over on. I do know it asked for a number that needed to be read. It is possible that if you had someone write this number in braille the installation could be done by someone who is totally blind.
Now I have become obsessed. Someone told me that 10,000 steps is the magic number. I can get 5,000 on my tread mill but then things slow down. This might be the push I need to increase my time on the tread mill. Instead I have been running in place for two minutes at a time and pacing the downstairs hall whenever I am on the phone or just feeling lazy. Yesterday was my first real push at this and when it was time for bed I was at 9,700. I walked the hall and did one of my running in place things and made it to 11,164. Now truly I know I am sick. I also go up and down stairs at least twice whenever I need to go upstairs. My office is upstairs so that helps.
I have discovered how few things I can actually do walking in place. Honestly, I can hardly drink water. Maybe this will improve my coordination.
It is harder for a blind person or an older person to stay fit, and I am both. I am bound and determine to prove I can improve my fitness in the comfort of my own home.
Unfortunately I don’t get Fitbit credit for my stretching and weights that I do every night. There is a way to get credit for this but that is the next step in my learning process.
I also want to set up the sleep tracking feature. I will be curious to see if I feel better on the nights that Fitbit says I had better sleep.
Thanks again to Apple for starting us down this path of devices that work for everyone.
I think, thanks to Fitbit for giving me something new to obsess about.
