Friday in Venice

Friday in Venice

This could well be the last time I write while actually sitting on the couch in our Venice flat. It all depends on what time we get home this evening.
I am drinking; the last, rather flat glass of Prosecco from the bottle Neal bought me at the start of the trip. The bubbles have nicely encouraged my writing.
I feel a bit like the wine, kind of flat.
It is a hot humid afternoon and likely to rain. Oh goody, that means wet clothes to pack.
This morning we went to our first breakfast place and had pastry and coffee while standing at the bar. Shayna had her wonderful ice coffee.
Then we walked around and visited the church in our square. This neighborhood church is the size of a football field and full of paintings. It is true; one should just drop into local churches.
We also went to the food store to buy some little gifts and we went to a gallery with amazing but not quite wearable jewelry and scarves.
We realized that if we went much further thigs would be closed for nap time so we stopped for lunch. I had tortellini and one of the Campari spritzers that I have come to love.
We returned for naps and now I am up but it is raining. I guess we will go out in the rain.
We are all a little blue because it is our last night.
If you want a week to fly by, spend it in a glorious place with people you love and watch the time fly.
Tomorrow we will have to leave here at 7:00 am. We will hall our suitcases to the boat and leave for the airport and the long nasty flight to reality.
