Sunday in Nashville

Sunday in Nashville

This could not have been a more perfect day.
Let me start by correcting my spelling of Wyndham.
We woke up pretty early and walked to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Our server was a real sweet heart. I had a nice bowl of steel cut oatmeal with apples and lots of other goodies. I ate half the blue berry muffin that came with the oatmeal. The coffee was very good.
We walked back to the condo and took showers. Our shower is the ultimate in water saving. Neal called it a controlled leak. It really can’t be called a shower.
This was going to be my Civil War day and we decided to head to Franklin to explore the battle by the same name. This battle took place the last day of November in 1864.
We found a big music festival going on and came close to buying tickets. The standing room only for the shows turned us off and the people we wanted to see were at the end of the day. The tickets were also very expensive. We asked at the information place for the best place to eat and we were sent to Pucketts. I had a taco salad with pulled pork and it could not have been better. Neal had a burger that could have eaten him. We decided to share a piece of black berry cobbler. When in the south you need to eat cobbler. It was our duty.
Then we drove to the Carter house, not really knowing what we would find. I knew the battle was fought in front of this house. It is a nice old brick house with original out buildings. It is now a museum filled with actual family treasures. A nice man named Jim did an hour long tour and I enjoyed every single second of it. I think I will spend my next life studying the Civil war. I just can’t get enough of it. How did we ever let such a thing happen? All those American boys killing each other in the front yards of wear people lived.
We drove home and took a short nap and we were off again. We decided to explore our neighborhood. Seriously it just looks like any other highway. Sometimes there are sidewalks and sometimes not. Neal wears his glow in the dark tie die so we are plenty visible.
We walked to the Opry hotel which is not all that far from us. It is really huge and hard to describe. I think it must be a little like Vegas. It seemed too quiet to me and a lot of the restaurants and bars were closed. I guess 8:00 on a Sunday night is not a busy time. We had a drink and snack in a sports bar and decided to check out one of the music places nearby. On our way back home we passed a place called Nashville Palace. The music was great. It was an older crowd, probably all from our Time share. There were several singers, some of whom were waiting tables. We sat outside and actually danced. We were there until midnight and then walked home.
It turned out to be a 20,000 step day. Here’s hoping Monday turns out to be another one.
