You Did What!!??

You Did What!!??

I am totally certain that I punctuated that title incorrectly but I hope I got your attention. In case, you think all people who are blind are alike, this will shatter that idea.
I want to start by thanking Apple, once again, for doing so much to open the world of all kinds of technology to people who are blind or low vision. Once you have the Apple tools in your hand your imagination has no limits.
I am posting something I received from a customer who has turned into a friend, at least that is what I like to think. This guy has called me every Christmas for years to ask me for gift ideas for his brother who is blind. I love getting the calls because he really pushes me to come up with ideas. Now I kind of watch for things all year. You are not going to believe what these guys have done.
If you want to know more about this please contact me and I will put you in touch with these wizards.
By the way, you might be interested in something my brother and I did last weekend. About two years ago, my brother bought a new player piano. The new player pianos play digitized music from CDs rather than playing the piano rolls that older player pianos used. But he could play the songs on only one CD at a time, and then he had to go to the piano and change the CD. Also, he couldn’t create playlists using songs from different CDs. So, my brother ripped the piano CDs onto his computer, and then we connected the piano to his wireless network. Now, because of Apple Home Sharing and Apple AirPlay, he can use his iPhone as the controller for his piano. The songs are still on his computer, but he can see them listed on his iPhone, and use the iPhone to select songs to stream from the computer to his player piano. It took us all weekend to get it working the way he wants it to work, but now it’s terrific.
Now, I am not sure how many people, blind or otherwise, have player pianos but I think this is really cool.
