I Still Hate Acorns
I know I rant about this year after year. Well, it is not actually every year because I think we only experience the deluge every 4 or 5 years.
However, the nasty little devils have an uncanny way of timing their year of abundance with the year we get a new car.
Ten years ago we got our new car in the beginning of September. I should mention two things at this point. First of all, we do not have a garage. Second of all we do not have any oak trees, not a single one on our property.
Within a couple of weeks of getting our car it was bombarded by acorns and spent its next ten years with a trunk that looked a lot like a steel drum.
This year we got our car in May. I guess this should ease the pane.
This year is Amesbury acorn year once again. We walked out of our house on Sunday afternoon to a broken wind shield. One of those bullet like acorns got us again.
It scares me to walk out my front door, especially if there is any wind.
Walking is like walking on a street full of marbles.
We will spend the spring pulling out baby oak trees planted by our very healthy squirrel population.
Here is a positive way to look at this. Even with the house closed up tight I can hear a car pull up to my house. It sounds like when you march on bubble wrap.
I am glad we usually don’t have ice and acorns at the same time.
