Tuesday in Venice
We did a little better at getting out a little earlier today. We headed straight for the water bus and did a great job of getting to Murano. It was a truly glorious day. We walked around and saw the most spectacular glass ever. Neal bought me a necklace to die for and earrings as well. I did some Christmas shopping and hopefully I won’t keep everything for myself.
We had a wonderful lunch. I had my first pasta and it was worth every carb.
As we walked back to the boat we saw some very nasty black clouds. The phone told me that the storm should move in about 3:00 and it looked like it was right on schedule.
The first boat took about 45 minutes and the ride is incredible. I had a great spot leaning against a pole that was warm for some reason and massaged my back all the way to St. Marks.
The rain came in full force and we had no umbrellas or jackets. Actually Neal had his jacket.
We had no choice but to walk to the next boat in the rain and it was a bit of a walk. We were totally soaked. We did our best to keep our precious packages safe.
The crowds waiting for the boat were getting a bit aggressive. We did not make the first boat. Now it was hailing. The crowd spoke many languages and it was very weird. Eventually we got our boat and it was the one that would bring us closest to home. Just before we got on the boat the rain stopped.
We had a nice dry walk home and a good rest.
We just got back from dinner and it is not even 10:00. We are going to try really hard to get up early tomorrow.
We had a really fun dinner in our campo. I had pasta and grilled vegetables that I shared with Neal. Shayna had grilled cheese. Oh foolish her, she thought there would be bread with her grilled cheese. We went to a second place for hot chocolate and a crape with honey and cheese and then laughed our way home.
We are having such fun.
