Keep Reading January 2020

Keep Reading January 2020

Here we are in a new year that will fly by far too quickly.  We are already almost half way through February.

I read some extremely good books in January.  I am looking forward to passing on the titles.

The Giver Of Stars by Jojo Moyes Is a warm book with a few rough edges.  If you are a book lover you will love this book.  Some young women are recruited to help start a library that will deliver books by horse back.  They all have their own stories and are joined together by their need to get reading materials to rural families.

The Great Alone, by Kristin Hannah will have to be made into a movie.  The descriptions of Alaskan wilderness are spell binding.  Then add a story that can rip you apart and you have a book that you will not be able to put down.

Kristin Hannah also gave us the Winter Garden and The Nightingale. Nothing like a Norwegian mystery to get your blood moving.  A middle age woman who has lost her voice because of a failed surgery is having a conversation with a detective and explaining her life and how she ended up being accused of murder.  This book is full of surprises.

The Education of an Idealist by Samantha Power has been sitting on the best seller list for months and now I know why.  This memoir is beautifully written and easy to read.  Former war correspondent, UN ambassador, and presidential cabinet official who advised the Obama administration on human rights issues recalls her personal and professional journey, including her origins as an immigrant. Discusses the defining moments of her life and how she has balanced her demanding career with family life.

The Whisperer by Karin Fossum will take care of your need to read a good thriller.
