Living with Coronavirus March 18
Time flies when you are having fun. It is up to us to fill these days stuck at home with good ways to pass the time and help us stay calm.
As hard as it might be, don’t watch or listen to every word the media has to share with us on this subject. This is not easy in our house because my husband is a news junky. Frankly, most of the stuff we are almost forced to listen to is not news. This is kind of like watching a train wreck.
I have a word to say on the hand washing thing. Here in New England, I think we have the coldest water on the planet. It is especially cold first thing in the morning. I don’t like to leave it run because it is such a waste. In our house, the water in the kitchen sink gets warm much faster. I think it must be closest to the hot water heater. I keep both soap and lotion by the kitchen sink and wash my hands there first thing in the morning. Personally I prefer bar soap to liquid because moving my hands around the soap feels really good and sooths my arthritis.
If you are looking for a nice long book that I found both interesting and somewhat educational, try My Dear Hamilton. Written by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie will fill the bill and pass the time, a lot of time. I saw a different side of Thomas Jefferson in this book. They do a great job of helping the reader understand what is fiction and what is true.
If you do not have access to print books at this time, there are other sources for reading material. If you have a tablet or a smart phone, check out what your local public library has to offer in both print and audio downloadable books. Also Amazon and Audible have available titles. Sometimes amazon offers some free titles especially early in the day.
Our local grocery store is starting early morning shopping for people over 60. The store should be nice and clean and fully stocked. You will probably run into your older friends. Don’t get too close!
If you have Amazon Prime, try watching the movie Motherless Brooklyn. I think it cost 6 dollars but that is a lot cheaper than going to the movie and much safer. Actually I think all the movie theaters around here have closed.
